Irvine Beach CX Champs
I spent all of Sunday at Irvine beach watching the Scottish Cyclocross Champs. The day was a great example of what CX can be, tough racing, friendly atmosphere, changing conditions, and above all, grand in scale. Irvine beach made for a truly spectacular setting on what was an enjoyable day had by all.
Personally I was happy to see John Macleod taking his first Championship and win the Junior mens title, pulling out a lead on the first lap before getting tangled up in a crash when he was lapping other riders and having to do it all again.
Perhaps worth noting was a rather sorry looking loggerhead turtle who washed up on the beach and was rescued by the Scottish SPCA, and will be released back into the wild as soon as it recovers. It even made the BBC News.
